Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad attended a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for the Strengthening of Cross-Border Cooperation (CIG) in Luxemburg on December 11. He hailed the progress made possible by this format. He also expressed his wish to continue joint efforts toward ever more ambitious goals.
At the opening of the meeting, he emphasized that France was doing its utmost to simplify the daily lives of those living along our borders. While underscoring the progress that has been made on increasing commitments relating to mobility, he also reiterated the vital importance of improving access to the nearest medical facilities and of developing a solid joint regional development strategy.
The Minister Delegate stated in this regard that we should maintain and accelerate bilateral efforts in all areas of daily importance to cross-border workers. This renewed determination would enable France and Luxemburg to achieve very concrete objectives: facilitating cross-border telework beyond 34 days, moving forward on unemployment insurance in order to rebalance worker compensation, and improving access to early childhood services and childcare.
Lastly, the Minister stressed the importance, for France, of maintaining our strong determination to overcome the daily obstacles that face French workers, thereby boosting the credibility of national and European government action.
