Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot hosted his Peruvian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmer Schialer, along with Peruvian Minister of Defense Walter Astudillo, in Paris today.
The three ministers reaffirmed their desire to strengthen our bilateral relationship They agreed to step up our already strong cooperation in the strategic areas of security and defense. They also discussed prospects for boosting our economic ties, especially in the areas of transportation and renewable energy.
Looking ahead to the COP30 in Belém, they reiterated their commitment to protecting the planet. Lastly, the minister hailed Peru’s signing of the UN marine biodiversity treaty (BNJJ) and encouraged its ratification in the near future.
